Travel Report: Visiting in Mexico Right Now in 2020

Many clients had questions and I was curious about traveling to Mexico right now too, so I took a trip in September to see what safety protocols are in place with my own eyes.

I stayed at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa in The Riviera Maya and Dreams Sands in Cancun, and it was impressive.

Arriving

Upon arrival in Mexico you will need a QR reader to answer questions at the airport and at the resort. The airport was impressively clean. Temperatures are taken upon arrival and luggage cleaned before transferring to the resort.

When I got to the resort, luggage was thoroughly wiped down, shoes were cleaned, and hands were washed outside of the entrance. Around the resort, sanitizer stations could be found everywhere.

During My Stay

Everyone wears masks inside all resorts. The resorts are always very clean, but you’ll be able to tell they are going the extra mile in both public areas and rooms.

Resorts in Mexico are reopening much like our businesses are reopening in the States, so not all restaurants and entertainment options were available. Sometimes service was slower as staff have more cleaning and safety protocols.

Most restaurants are not offering room service in the early morning, instead starting at 11am. Buffet restaurants have shifted from the old self-service style to having staff serve you instead.

Around the pool and at the beach all chairs were six feet apart. All guests still seemed to have a good time! People were pleasant, fun, and following the mask and social distancing guidelines.

Overall

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and was very pleased with what I experienced. The staff and facilities kept the facilities well sanitized and took safety guidelines seriously. Fellow travelers were great too- following the mask and social distancing rules.
